A talented MBSB student, Zikri Hasanbasri, published his first-author paper, “Cleavage-Resistant Protein Labeling with Hydrophilic Trityl Enables Distance Measurements In-Cell,” in J. Phys. Chem. B 2021, 125, 20, 5265-5274 (doi: 10.1021/acs.jpcb.1c02371). In this work, he developed a new spin-label that can measure ESR-based distance constraints in proteins in-cells. Additionally, the spin-label expanded the methodology for distance measurements at temperatures higher than previously possible.
