Welcome new MBSB Students!!
|Sophia got her bachelor's in Chemistry from Frostburg State University in Maryland. She is interested in researching viral proteins and how they mutate. Her hobbies include playing tennis, cooking, watching TV and movies, and taking care of her houseplants.||
Victor did his undergraduate at Pitt in Microbiology and he graduated Spring 2021. His research interests include Synthetic Biology and more recently Cancer research. In his free time he likes to rock climb and try new restaurants around the city.
Matt went to University of Maryland College Park for his undergrad, and he graduated in December 2020. He is interested in cryoEM and membrane proteins. In his free time he likes to hike and play guitar.
Josh is from Los Angeles, CA. He went to CSU Long Beach for both undergrad and masters, where his research focused on computational biophysics and biochemistry. He seeks to continue learning more about computational approaches in research, particularly molecular dynamics and free energy calculations in structural, catalytic and thermodynamic properties of enzymes. Outside of academia, he enjoys nature, walking, video/board games, food and trying new things.
Welcome to the Molecular Biophysics and Structural Biology Graduate Program!
Molecular biophysics is an exciting interdisciplinary research field at the intersection of physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. The Molecular Biophysics & Structural Biology (MBSB) PhD Graduate Program is an adventure that brings together faculty across the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh as well as faculty of various departments at Carnegie Mellon University. It aims to provide a fertile and collaborative research and learning experience to its students, and has allowed current and previous students to explore a range of fascinating research topics. This website is meant as a resource to provide a useful source of information about the Program, for both current participants and anyone interested in joining us.
Please contact the program co-directors (below) with any questions or suggestions concerning the program you may have. Please contact the webmaster for any suggestions regarding the website.
